Hello! I'm Amanda.
In August of next year, I will be going to Sweden for a year through AFS. I'm really excited, and I know this is an experience of a lifetime. It has always been my dream to go to Sweden and now I finally am. It seems unreal. I hope to be able to learn a lot about the culture and the people and be able to share my culture also. I think I'm most excited about meeting new people and meeting my host family and also just seeing new places. I'm really excited to gain new friendships and just more knowledge of the culture and how they live life.
As far as the support I'm getting on my decision to go to Sweden and become an AFSer goes, it's both positive and negative. My mom, has gave me so much support it's incredible, she's been so encouraging and has had nothing but positive things to say throughout this whole process so far. It's really helpful to have positive reinforcement I've gotten through her and some of my family and friends. But at the same time time from others I have gotten no support at all and it kind of hurts. But in the end, this is my decision and this is what I want to do and I'm going to do this for me.
Hey :D I am a current exchange student in Sweden right now, and it seems that you are really excited (I mean who wouldn't?!) Sweden is an amazing place, you are going to absolutely enjoy your time here.
